Account Setup

This guide covers the various ways to create and configure your Containment.AI account.

Sign Up Options

Email & Password

  1. Go to app.containment.ai
  2. Click Sign up here
  3. Enter your work email address and create a password
  4. You are signed in immediately — no email-verification step is required today
caution

Personal email domains (gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com, etc.) cannot create new organizations. Use your work email to get started.

Microsoft SSO

  1. Click the Microsoft button on the login page
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 work account
  3. Authorize Containment.AI to access your basic profile
  4. You'll be automatically signed in

Google SSO

  1. Click the Google button on the login page
  2. Sign in with your Google Workspace account
  3. Authorize Containment.AI to access your basic profile
  4. You'll be automatically signed in

Organization Setup

New Organizations

Signing up creates a new organization with you as its first administrator:

  1. Complete the onboarding wizard (see Onboarding Guide)
  2. Configure initial settings and policies

Joining an Existing Organization

note

Sign-up always creates a new organization — there is no automatic domain match and no self-serve "Request Access" flow today. To join an organization that already exists, ask one of its administrators to invite you (see Inviting Users); you'll receive an invitation email with a join link. The optional Email domain field during setup is used to suggest your organization name, not to merge organizations.

Demo Environment

Before your own data arrives you can preview the product with sample data:

  1. On the overview dashboard, click See it live — explore the demo environment
  2. A banner reads "You're viewing the Demo environment" while it is active
  3. Exit at any time from that banner

The demo environment is a read-only preview — it does not move your account or affect your organization's data.

Account Security

Password Requirements

If using email/password authentication, passwords must be at least 6 characters. We recommend a long, unique passphrase managed by a password manager.

Multi-Factor Authentication

Containment.AI does not implement its own MFA layer. When users sign in with Google or Microsoft, your identity provider's MFA policies apply to those sign-ins. Organization-wide SSO enforcement (disabling email/password sign-in entirely) is an Enterprise-tier capability delivered as a custom engagement — see SSO.

Session Management

  • Sessions automatically refresh to keep you signed in (short-lived access tokens with rotating refresh tokens)
  • Use Sign Out to end your session securely

Profile Settings

Your profile lives at Settings > Account, which has five sections:

SectionContents
Profile informationFull name and Email address, saved with Save changes
Connected accountsRead-only Google and Microsoft rows showing Connected / Not connected
Change passwordNew password + Confirm password, saved with Update password
PreferencesA single Marketing & lifecycle emails toggle
Deactivate accountSee Account Deactivation below

Additional preferences:

  • Theme - Light/dark toggle in the top bar (not an account setting)
  • Time zone - Detected automatically from your browser; there is no time-zone preference to set
note

Avatars are displayed as initials — there is no avatar upload, and no per-notification-type email preferences beyond the marketing toggle.

Password Reset

If you've forgotten your password:

  1. Click Forgot password? on the login page
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Check your inbox for the reset link
  4. Click the link and set a new password
note

Password reset is only available for email/password accounts. SSO users should reset through their identity provider.

Account Deactivation

To deactivate your account:

  1. Go to Settings > Account
  2. Scroll to the Deactivate account section
  3. Click Deactivate my account
  4. Confirm with Yes, deactivate my account

Deactivation:

  • Signs you out of all sessions
  • Cancels any active subscriptions you manage
  • Removes you from all organizations
  • Retains your data according to your organization's retention policy
warning

Deactivation cannot be undone from the product — contact support if you need your account restored.
