Quick Start Guide

Get your organization protected with Containment.AI in just a few steps. This guide will walk you through the essential setup process.

Prerequisites​

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • A work email address (personal email domains like gmail.com are not supported for organization creation)
  • Admin access to install browser extensions (or MDM access for enterprise deployment)
  • Basic understanding of your organization's AI usage policies

Step 1: Create Your Account​

  1. Navigate to app.containment.ai
  2. Click Sign up here or use one of the SSO options:
    • Microsoft - Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account
    • Google - Sign in with your Google Workspace account
  3. Complete email verification if using email/password signup

Using SSO (Microsoft or Google) streamlines the signup process and automatically verifies your work email domain.

Step 2: Complete Onboarding​

After signing in, you'll be guided through a 4-step onboarding wizard:

Step 1: Focus Areas​

Select your primary use cases:

  • Guardrails - Enforce policies on AI usage
  • Audit - Track and log AI interactions
  • Compliance - Meet regulatory requirements
  • Other - Custom requirements

Step 2: Organization Details​

  • Enter your organization name
  • Confirm your email domain
  • Select which AI platforms your organization uses

Step 3: Guardrail Preset​

Choose a starting configuration:

  • Recommended - Balanced protection for most organizations
  • Strict - Maximum protection with more restrictive policies
  • Minimal - Basic monitoring with fewer blocks

Step 4: Deployment​

Select your deployment method:

  • MDM Provider - Deploy via Intune, Jamf, or other MDM
  • Manual Installation - Individual Chrome extension install

Step 3: Install the Chrome Extension​

For immediate protection, install the Containment.AI Chrome extension:

  1. From the dashboard, go to Integrations > Chrome Extension
  2. Click Install Extension to open the Chrome Web Store
  3. Click Add to Chrome and confirm the installation
  4. The extension will automatically connect to your organization

For enterprise deployments, use MDM to push the extension to all managed devices. See MDM Integration for detailed instructions.

Step 4: Verify Protection​

Test that your protection is active:

  1. Visit a supported AI platform (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude)
  2. Attempt to paste or type content that would trigger a policy
  3. Check the Containment.AI dashboard for the alert

Troubleshooting​

Extension not connecting?​

  • Ensure you're signed into the dashboard
  • Try refreshing the extension by clicking the icon and selecting "Reconnect"
  • Check that your browser allows the extension to run

Policies not triggering?​

  • Verify the policy is enabled in the Policies page
  • Check that the AI platform is supported
  • Review policy configuration for correct trigger conditions
