Quick Start Guide

Get your organization protected with Containment.AI in just a few steps. This guide will walk you through the essential setup process.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • A work email address (personal email domains like gmail.com are not supported for organization creation)
  • Admin access to install browser extensions (or MDM access for enterprise deployment)
  • Basic understanding of your organization's AI usage policies

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Navigate to app.containment.ai
  2. Click Sign up here or use one of the SSO options:
    • Microsoft - Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account
    • Google - Sign in with your Google Workspace account
tip

Using SSO (Microsoft or Google) streamlines the signup process and automatically verifies your work email domain.

Step 2: Complete Onboarding

After signing in, a three-step wizard sets up your organization. The header shows Step N of 3:

Step 1: Name your organization

Enter your Organization name and click Continue.

Step 2: Create your first policy

The wizard creates one starting policy — Block PII — and asks which AI surfaces it should apply to. All five are selected by default:

  • ChatGPT (chatgpt.com)
  • Claude (claude.ai)
  • Gemini (gemini.google.com)
  • Microsoft Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com)
  • Grok (grok.com)

Pick at least one surface, then click Continue.

Step 3: Confirm your extension is connected

Install and pin the extension, then sign in to it. The wizard detects the extension's first check-in automatically. Finish with Finish and go to dashboard.

See the Onboarding Guide for the full walkthrough.

Step 3: Install the Chrome Extension

For immediate protection, install the Containment.AI browser extension (Manifest V3, for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers such as Edge and Brave):

  1. Open the Containment AI listing on the Chrome Web Store
  2. Click Add to Chrome and confirm the installation
  3. Click the extension icon and sign in with your work email to connect it to your organization
note

The extension is published on the Chrome Web Store as Containment AI (extension ID cfliledfjcblpjkeiokhhdadfcpekiog).

info

For enterprise deployments, use MDM to push the extension to all managed devices. See MDM Integration for detailed instructions.

Step 4: Verify Protection

Test that your protection is active:

  1. Visit a supported AI platform (for example ChatGPT or Claude)
  2. Attempt to submit content that would trigger a policy
  3. Check the Containment.AI dashboard for the alert — the Get started checklist on the overview marks Generate a test alert complete once one arrives

What's Next?

Now that you're set up, explore these areas:

Troubleshooting

Extension not connecting?
