Inviting Users

Add new users to your Containment.AI organization to extend AI governance coverage.

Invitation Methods

Individual Invitations

  1. Go to the Users page
  2. Click Invite users
  3. Enter one or more work email addresses in the Email addresses box (separate them with commas, semicolons, spaces, or new lines)
  4. Click Send invites

Each user receives an email with a join link and instructions for connecting the extension.

note

The invite form takes email addresses only — there is no team selector on it, so assign teams after the user joins.

Bulk Invitations (roadmap)

note

Bulk CSV invite is a roadmap capability, not a shipped feature. There is no Bulk Upload option in the product today — invitations are sent one at a time. Bulk-invite and directory-sync are tracked as roadmap work; if bulk onboarding is a requirement for your deployment, contact your account manager.

MDM Deployment

For enterprise deployments:

  1. Push (force-install) the extension via MDM — see MDM Integration
  2. Each user signs in to the extension with their work email to connect to your organization (zero-touch enrollment via a managed-storage organization ID is planned; released extension versions do not yet read managed storage)

Invitation Status

Track outstanding invitations under Settings > Members, which lists pending invitations with Email, Permissions, Invited by, and Expires.

Invitations carry one of these statuses:

StatusDescription
PendingSent and still valid
AcceptedThe user has joined
ExpiredNot accepted within 7 days
RevokedCancelled by an administrator
note

There is no open-tracking or bounce-tracking — "Opened" and "Bounced" states do not exist. The Users page itself does not show invitation status; use Settings > Members for that.

Resending Invitations

If a user didn't receive or lost the invitation:

  1. Go to Settings > Members
  2. Find the pending invitation
  3. Click Retry email

Resending re-delivers the same email and link for a still-valid pending invitation — no new token is minted and the expiry is unchanged. Re-sending requires administrator access.

note

The Resend invite action shown on the Users page (row menu, bulk bar, and detail drawer) is not yet wired up — use Settings > Members instead, which also offers Revoke.

Invitation Expiration

Invitations expire after 7 days. Expired invitations:

  • No longer allow signup
  • Cannot be resent — create a new invitation for the user instead

Bulk Actions

Select users with the row checkboxes (or select-all for the current page) to reveal a bulk bar offering Clear, Resend invite, and Suspend.

note

There is no bulk remove and no user-list export. As noted above, the bulk Resend invite is not yet wired up — cancel or re-send an invitation from Settings > Members.

User Requirements

For successful enrollment, users need:

Technical Requirements

  • Google Chrome 114+ (or another Chromium-based browser such as Edge or Brave; Firefox support is in review and not yet installable)
  • Permission to install extensions
  • Internet access

Account Requirements

  • Work email matching your domain
  • Ability to receive emails

Monitoring Enrollment

Track adoption from the dashboard:

  • The overview's Extensions card shows how many devices have the extension installed
  • The Users page's User directory subline counts active, pending, and inactive users
  • Settings > Members lists invitations still outstanding

Following Up

  • Review pending invitations under Settings > Members and use Retry email
  • Reach out directly to users whose invitations are close to expiring
note

There is no enrollment-metrics report (sent vs completed, time-to-enrollment), no export of pending invitations, and no automated reminder to invited users.

Troubleshooting

Email Not Received

  1. Check spam/junk folder
  2. Verify email address is correct
  3. Confirm email domain matches organization
  4. Try resending invitation

Extension Won't Install

  1. Check browser compatibility (Chrome 114+ or another Chromium-based browser)
  2. Verify extension permissions are allowed
  3. Ensure not blocked by corporate policy
  4. Try incognito mode to test

Can't Complete Setup

  1. Verify organization allows signups
  2. Check email domain is approved
  3. Contact admin for assistance

Best Practices

Timing

  • Send invitations at start of workday
  • Avoid Fridays and holidays
  • Follow up within 3 days

Communication

  • Announce Containment.AI before inviting
  • Explain why it's being deployed
  • Provide support contact

Batching

  • Don't overwhelm support with too many at once
  • Stagger large rollouts over days
  • Have support ready for questions
